Ms. Simpson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Applied Psychology/Counseling from the University of Baltimore. She earned additional credits and sat for the licensure board exam for LCPCs, earning her license in 2001.

Prior to that she had developed and taught the Sexual Abuse Prevention course for the Archdiocese of Baltimore for eight years; she has worked for Calvert, Cecil, Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s Counties, conducting over two hundred Custody Evaluations. She had over twenty Parent Coordinator cases referred in the past two years and has been working with a number of organizations in developing the new Collaborative Divorce processes.

Coordinator of Mental Health Resources for the Montgomery County Department of Child Welfare 11/96 to 9/99: Assisted sexually abused children and their parents with referrals to appropriate mental health treatment. Assisted the CPS child sexual abuse investigation team by diagnosing trauma and providing crisis counseling to victims and their families.

Supervised Visitation Facilitator for the Family Court Services, Harford County Circuit Court, Maryland 11/96 to 9/99: Direct therapeutic and parent education to Court ordered custody/visitation cases. Facilitating supervised visitation and reporting to the Court via testimony and written reports.

Parent Advocate for the Harford County Department of Social Services, Child Advocacy Center, 3/98 to 8/98: Provided therapeutic support and counseling for parents of sexually abused children immediately after the disclosure and arrest of the familial abuser; to assist the parent victim to cope with the trauma, depression, and life adjustments immediately after the abuser’s arrest and post trial period.
