Being an effective parent is one of the most rewarding tasks in life. It is also one of the most challenging. Most parents can improve their level of parenting knowledge and skills. When parents experience conflict, separation, and divorce there is often a negative correlation to their use of effective parenting skills, communication, and conflict resolution. Ms. Simpson is certified to teach the Systematic Training in Effective Parenting (STEP) program written and developed by Don Dinkmeyer, Sr., Ph.D., Gary D. McKay, Ph. D, and Don Dinkmeyer, Jr., Ph.D. (1997; AGS American Guidance Services, Inc.). Ms. Simpson has over ten years of experience teaching parent education courses to parents who experience conflict, child abuse, and custody disputes. Most parents were referred by the Department of Social Services and the Circuit Courts. Ms. Simpson taught the court ordered Effective Parenting Course for the Montgomery County Circuit Court for three and one-half years.
